Mech Dech is the (temporary) name of the card game I am currently designing. The game was born from the idea of combining the various giant mechs/kaiju/robots at least in concept into one game, turning it into a battle royale.
Mech Dech is now about various army/empires vying for control of the galaxy on different battle fields. You have a deck of 40+ cards and 15 'base' cards. The base cards generate resources which are counted out from your main deck and used to play cards from your hand. To attack you draw a card from your deck and use the number in the cards right hand corner. The game is over when you run out of cards in your deck or you run out of 'base cards'
If that doesn't make sense I promise to bring pictures when I go into a how to play document.
The game portion is about deck and resource control, and the theme is centered around mecha/monster combat.

Making cards and decks.
Wow, so I spent the day (after my day job) Remaking my cards. I not only remade the cards I had with my new templates but managed to also make tons of new cards. I'm now ready to begin alpha so this blog will get to be a game blog in earnest!
I shall next post make a tutorial (with pictures of my simple but not pretty cards included) and a print and play set of the alpha type cards.
I will also begin posting playtest duels when I get a chance.
Feel free to comment on the cards, rules, or anything else! I would love to know what people think.

Prototype playtest.
So, I'm making this game. I haven't quite decided on a name yet. (Though Mech Deck rhymes so there's that.)
Anyway it's a faction based mecha army game. You use base cards to gather resources which you use to build mechs and destroy the opponents base and resources.
I just got done with my first prototype and I came to some conclusions:
Overall the game works fairly well, though suffers from a lack of cards.
I made defenses to high.
Mech costs also need to be adjusted.
I need moar cards.
I'm pretty happy with things and now have a much bigger list of keywords to draw from, and am in the process of installing GiMP so I can start designing cards in earnest. A good layout is key to making this all work. So that's what I'm working on now. Then I'll give the cards a brush up and begin adding the new ones my notes call for.
